Fleetline 1537

MRF 169 was released from Alexanders in Falkirk in 1980. It was delivered to Midland Scottish and served in their North Glasgow area mostly working from Cumbernauld depot.

In 1985 it was transferred to new company Kelvin scottish which itself was created from the North Glasgow operations of Midland and Central Scottish. At this time MRF 169 was renumbered to F169 and then quickly to 1537 upon the comissioning of the new Kelvin numbering scheme. By this time 1537 had received the attractive and at the time extravagent Kelvin Scottish blue and yellow livery. 1537 spent time at most Kelvin Scottish depots before being sold on to Western Scottish.

At Western 1537 became J389 and was allocated to Johnstone depot. After Western and Clydeside split J389 became part of the Clydeside fleet and remained at Johnstone mostly working services between here and Glasgow City Centre.

Some history is not known at this time and a gap exists in my knowledge until January 2001 when MRF 169 became part of Wilbys fleet in Hibaldstow, North Lincolnshire. Operating mostly school services in this area, 169 was retired in 2005/6 after suffering a head gasket failure.

In May 2007 i aquired her for preservation and made the long arduous trip from Wilbys yard at Broughton between Scunthorpe and Brigg to Beith Transport Museum in North Ayrshire. It is my intention that 169 will be restored to represent her Kelvin Scottish days as 1537.
